iVideo is multitrack video editing software,
created in Cocoa (Objective-C) and using
QuickTime. It was developed for all general video
purposes, and to include all of the features of
QuickTime Pro and iMovie. It is almost complete;
you can import video from digital cameras (using
FireWire) or from any QuickTime format supported
file, then edit, modify, and mix them, and apply
any video effect on or between them. You can then
export them to any QuickTime supported format.

The Lumiera project strives to create a video/film editing solution usable for professional grade productions, e.g. a documentary or feature film. The main focus is on supporting large scale and complicated project setups and to add the actual media processing in an open plugin-based manner Lumiera was born out of the Cinlelerra community. It started as a partial rework of the Cinelerra codebase, but then quickly turned into a complete re-engineering. It has been underway for almost 3 years, and has a substantial body of working code, but is not yet ready for end users.

Gnonlin is a library for creating non-linear video
editors. It works together with the GStreamer
multimedia framework to give developers a powerful
and flexible set of tools for quickly assembling
applications which need to handle non-linear video
editing.

freeOpenML is a fork of the OpenML standard. The main goal
is to provide simple framework with no
dependencies upon IRIX.

MPEGlue is an AppleScript front-end for the mpgtx command-
line MPEG utility.

GOPDIT (GOP accurate eDITor) is a simple program
that lets you cut and merge MPEG2-PS files at GOP
boundaries. It supports no other file types or
operations. Its main purpose is to remove
commercials from TV recordings.

SubTimer is an easy-to-use subtitle editor based
on SubStation Alpha, an abandoned freeware project
for Windows. It features simple editing (cut,
copy, paste, line split and merge, insert, and
delete), time shifting for shifting a range of
subtitles by a specified amount of time, timing
based on an audio file (the audio wave is
displayed on the screen, and the user can pick the
start and end times by clicking on it), and
UniCode support. It supports Substation Alpha
(srt), SubRip (ssa), and plain text subtitle formats.

kmenc15 is an MEncoder frontend, generally designed to be a VirtualDub
replacement for Linux. It is most useful for editing and encoding large,
high-quality AVIs capped from TV. It allows cutting and merging at exact
frames, applying any MPlayer/MEncoder filter, with previews. It does not
support opening MPEGs.

The dvdauthor module allows you to create a
structure of menus, titles, and titlesets
(including the VMGM menu) in an object-oriented
manner. It can cross-reference commands (typically
in <pre> and <post> tags in the
dvdauthor .xml) with the actual location of a
particular video. For example: "jump f:%s" %
thismenu.id would be turned into "jump titleset 2
menu 3" if it was added to the second titleset as
the third menu. This allows you to build complex
interactive DVDs.

MPEGinsu is an AppleScript front-end for the
mpgtx command-line MPEG utility. It uses
QuickTime Player to cue up cut points.

TVShow is a platform-independent software package
for searching, managing, and recording television
shows. It consists of a Java Swing front-end for
searching and managing the listings, using a SOAP
service. The backend format is XMLTV.
