Jsmtpd is a small and modular SMTP server daemon.
It is heavily based on plugins, and currently
supports spam detection (Spamassassin, Jasen, RBL
servers, and BlackList), anti-virus (Clam
Antivirus), Recipient rewriting, and many other
filters. Filtering is done with a customisable
tree of filters. Almost all functionality is implemented as plugins, making it easy to fit your needs.

Rumble is a mail server suite for SMTP (ESMTPSA), HTTP, POP3, and IMAP4v1 with an extensive C/C++ and Lua API for scripting. It comes with support for SSL/TLS, SQLite, and MySQL and has a Web-based administration and Web mail feature. Additional included modules feature greylisting, DNS blacklisting, SpamAssassin support, and dynamic performance scaling as well as a multithreaded structure that allows for clustering of multiple servers for one or all domains. With the Lua API you can create your own new server mailing lists, CRM software, e-marketing, and other extensions within minutes.

SAUCE (Software Against Unsolicited Commercial Email) is an SMTP server that sits between the Internet and your actual mail software. It was originally written to help in the fight against spam, but it also helps encourage good configuration and administration in general.

PigeonDeliver is the delivery agent of the
PigeonAir project, a solution to easily build up
clustered, scalable, and modular email services.
PigeonDeliver is modular in nature, allowing it to
be used on Postfix and other MTAs using their own
native APIs without performance loss. It allows
mail services to be easily and transparently
distributed among a cluster of mail server, easily
supporting new services and new modules added
using the PigeonDeliver API, which simplifies
writing filters and/or delivery agents.

PHP Mobile Mail is aimed at mobile professionals
who want to use their favorite MUAs (noteably pine
or mutt) on their laptop, either in UNIX or Windows
(under GNU Gygwin). This lets you work offline. It
includes a mail_spooler program, which accepts the
output of you MUA and spools (on, or offline).
When connected, another process parses through
the spool and sends your messages. It is also
designed to "fake" using your REAL email address
with free services like gmx.net, or mail.yahoo.com,
when using their POP and SMTP servers, assuming
you have a domain and account that you can
control to this degree.

NDns is a DNS client library written for .NET. It caches
requests for MX, A, and PTR queries.

postfix_memcached is a patch to Postfix (2.1 and
2.2) to allow it to use memcache as a map source.
The memcache map type can be used to reduce the
load on another map type, e.g. pgsql. By placing
the memcache map before the pgsql map, a key not
found in the memcache will fall through to the
database. You'll need to figure out a way to
reverse populate the cache from the database
yourself. This map type can be seen as an
alternative to the proxymap(8) service.

QwikMail is a mail server solution that includes an SMTP server that
can function as a full MTA, as well as a local delivery agent that can
deliver to both /var/spool mbox files as well as Maildirs. It includes
RBL checking at the SMTP stage.

Python SRS Library is a Python translation of the
Perl reference implementation for SRS (Sender Rewriting Scheme) with easy to install packaging and built-in sendmail integration. SRS is needed when forwarding mail for SMTP authorization schemes that publish which IPs are authorized to send mail from a domain (for example SPF - Sender Policy Framework). It can also detect forged SMTP bounces by signing the return path for outgoing mail.

Whoson (WHO iS ONline) is a proposed Internet
protocol that allows Internet server programs know
if a particular (dynamically allocated) IP
address is currently allocated to a known
(trusted) user and, optionally, the identity of
the said user. The protocol could be used by an
SMTP Message Transfer System in conjunction with
anti-spam-relaying filters to implement a scheme
similar to the one described here to allow roaming
customers use their "home" SMTP server to submit
email while connected from a "foreign" network.

The Header and Envelope rewrite mini-HOWTO
explains how to rewrite your from address
differently in the mail header and the mail
envelope. This may be necessary, for example, if
your ISP requires you to send mail with one
address, but you are subscribed to mailing lists
with a different address, or want others to see a
forwarding address instead of your ISP's address.

Scam-grey is a milter that filters email
originating from MS Windows hosts. It provides you
the ability to mitigate the flow of unwanted email
from such hosts using greylisting.
